Transcript: You grow up fast. So there was... June came around. Anyway, through the war, we had, we had a lotta ...I have some pictures of the the partisans but I have to find them... Anyway, we were, we made... we made it through the partisans... there were, there were times we, we lived only from day to day, really, we never thought we'll ever survive. Because, we really are fighting the battle behind the lines. It's not like you, you know, you have the whole German army has to pass through here when they retreat, you know? We knew eventually, they're losing. By that time, they'll wipe us too out, but somehow or other, it didn't work that way. When they were retreating they were really running. So, by July of '44, the Russians finally liberated the area, the whole area. The war was still on. So, two of us survived, my brother and I. The home was burned down...there was no future in our hometown... see, we lost everybody. I...they took me...by the Russians already... by that time the partisans' push was all disbanded. Anybody who was able-bodied, either they were taken back in the army, in the Russian Army, or given jobs. Although we were somewhat kinda heroes in the eyes of the local population. After all, we were kinda like the resistance and we knew the town, they offered us good jobs in our hometown.
