Transcript: I didn't get out of jail, I was helped to escape. Let me tell you, that day the whole commander of the jail, of the prison, saved my life. He didn't know he was doing it- I had two long, beautiful braids, thick ones. When I came in and everybody's head was shaved ...He said to me, you know what you do? Your braids, put up high, so they won't shave it off. And he was the one giving orders to shave. And I was called out to go to work, they were building, but people like me did not go out to work, only the people who were sentenced. When I went through the door, they told me to get into that truck over there and they took me to the ghetto, and two Polish boys were waiting for me, from my town, to take me home, to dress me up, you know, with the flowered dress and a flower on my head and all that, and taking me home. See if he would shave my, that is if he would shave off all my hair, I couldn't escape, and that's how he saved my life.
