Transcript: My wife was in the underground too but I didn't know her. I met her after the liberation. We were young kids at that time, so when we got liberated she fled from her town because they tried to take her in the army at that time, so she fled from her hometown which was about 40 kilometers away from my town. But she came there and that's when we met together and it was love at first sight. And we been -- almost -- together since we met, you know. She had to go back to her town later on.
She fled -- her father was in the first 150 -- like in my hometown, they done the same thing in the other town. He was writing Torahs for a living - used to send them to United States and everywhere else. So he didn't know anything better. He said that's what he was doing. So they picked him one of the first. And in every town the Germans lied -- when they took him away within hours or the next day, they massacred.
Then she went [to a] massacre and [they] do the same thing. But she was hiding with her mother and two brothers underneath the ground -- in a place where it's covered up on top. You couldn't see the entrance you know. And they waited out the whole day and a half a night and then the next. At night, quietly, they opened up to see what was going on then. And they walked out from that place and fled from the ghetto where they were.
