NOTE: The person under discussion is Rozka Korczak, the right hand and lifelong confidante of Vilna partisan leaders Abba Kovner and Vitka Kempner.
I would say she was about 23, 24 at this time, 22, 25. And extremely intelligent. A lot of knowledge. She showed me weapons a lot, how to use them. She knew good weapons. Very good. She's, by herself, not from Vilna, I think, because she didn't speak Yiddish well at all. A serious person. Very serious. And we had discussions, because she didn't know from which group and where I am. She thought that I am coming from the left side. And she didn't realize it. But later on, she realized the differences in who I am. But she didn't pay attention. She thought that I am from the left side, from the Komsomol, from the communist side, because they had the younger people, too. And we really enjoyed this six hours, sitting there together. Sometimes was so cold that we have to just to stay together. And she was a very brave person. Extremely brave. And she told me about Zionism, was talking about Israel, and point of view of Hashomer Hatzair, and all this. And we got very excellent relations, and very close. Extremely close, in fact. And she was a terrific person, I've got to say.
