Transcript: We became part of the regular French army. I was attached to the headquarters. I was a second lieutenant, and I ended up behind a desk, and that was not my idea of being in an army. And also, I had the desire, really, the urge to be in Germany as a victor, as a conqueror, not as just a, you know, a Jew in a concentration camp. And I wanted to go there as a conqueror, French Jew. And I was, I think my age, I was older in thought than in actuality. And I really wanted to be there. And I made the application two or three times and it was always rejected. I don't know why, you know. And that's when I finally blew up and said, you know how old I am? And they went through their files and they didn't see any age, and I told them, fifteen and a half. They said that's not true. And convinced them, I said, if you want to, you can get in touch with my parents at Lodève, and 24-48 hours later, I was demobilized. And two weeks later, I was back in school in Lodève.
