Martin Petrasek - Delaying the advancement of the Germans
Transcript: The partisan movement was not to fight really open with the Germans -- we had to know where they are, if we can detect some tanks or anything and give a report by radio to the Red Army, but that was almost daily we were going out, just hiding behind some stones, trees and to see how many tracks are going through, and do nothing, I mean. Of course, some of time, when we were in danger or we were thinking that they might attacked us, whatever we can destroy and to, let's say, delay the coming.
For example, wintertime, you know it's very difficult for a German to come to the mountains, and we had a road which was going between the woods, so we just cut the woods, from both side of the road, and putting on the road, putting a few mines. They can delay for one week, they can delay the advancement, you know? So, things like this. One thing we have to be sure, that they had to know that we are there. They has to be absolutely sure that they are there, then they didn't dare to go to high levels, or so -- they knew. And that way, that's why we have to always appear somewhere or do something what openly fight them that was not, not the intention of the partisans.
