Transcript: So the partisans' role was to guarantee passage in the Alps and to be able to do something to stop the influx of German troops to the border. So, the fact of carrying out operations that blocked the German transports from the valleys to the passes was important for the overall framework of the war strategy but it wasn't the strategy that interested the Allies. The Allies just wanted to keep the German divisions in Italy, meaning as far as possible from the northern front. The Germans had five divisions in Italy, fighting against the partisans. So you can't minimize... the importance of the partisan presence on the overall framework of that phase of the war.
